The f editor source

I'm currently developing on the PC using the f editor. I'm looking
at ways of speeding it up somewhat - basically, I'd like to be able
to have:
  a 43 line screen
a utility to read the occam compiler o/p to place the cursor on wrong lines
one that doesn't use bansi.sys (yuck!)

I seem to remember that Julian Lewis at INMOS Bristol wrote the f editor. Is
this right?

What I'd really like to do is develop under OS/2 with loads of virtual DOS
sessions, so I can switch between half a dozen files and run compilations
at the same time. With a 43 line screen. And not use bansi.sys, because
I can't get it to work properly. And have automatic location of errors
in the source.

So, any thoughts?

(I would really really *not* like to use folding microemacs. So please
don't suggest it, because I can't use it.)
