DMA on transputers

Does anyone have some pointers on doing DMA to transputers.
There seem to be three ways to do DMA;

1) Via one of the transputer links so that the DMA device uses a CO1X.
2) Using dual ported RAM mapped into the memory space of the host,
     and some protocol so that the host can tell whats happening.
3) Going through the MemReq, MemGranted sequences.

Any comments, war stories, insights, other approaches, etc. would
be appreciated.
