libraries/device drivers for Parsytec IMOS Boards?

Greetings!

A number of us are working with Parytec INMOS Transputers (T8) on a SUN 4
workstation. The transputer board has a VME Bus. Currently we are cursed
with mtools, an incredibly tedious programming environment.

What we would like to do is use gcc or cc and link our code to existing
libraries in order to use the transputers or, failing that, assemble or
compile the transputer code into *.o files seperately and link using
the traditional c or fortran linkers. We would like to never see mtools
again! Does anyone know of any c or fortran linkable libraries/device
drivers for such a beast? Commercial references would be interesting, but
as the University is currently poor (Thanks Gov. Edger!) PD or Shareware
(ftp-able) sources would be even more appreciated, as we could start using
them right away!

Thanks for any and all help with this!

Jean.
