I am using a transputer simulator on a Sun Workstation.

Any ideas of what the new line symbol is eg \n in C. I suspect
it will be in the same for as say spk.ok, but I can't find it
anywhere

I am not quite sure on where and how you want to generate a newline
sequence, but here are two ways:

occam 2 Reference Manual (Prentice Hall, supplied with INMOS occam toolsets)
pp 92 states:

*c *C Carriage return
*n *N Newline

may be used in strings or as character constants.

However, an alternative method would be to use so.write.nl which worries about
how to send a newline sequence to the screen (or the other so.*.nl variants).
