unpackaged transputers available?

Greetings, I have some questions that I hope you can answer. 1) Is there any previous or ongoing transputer systems that uses the hypercube type interconnection? For a 16-node system, each transputer would have to use all 4 channels for communication. Is there a way to multiplex the channels to handle more transputer-to-transputer interconnections? 2) Is it possible to obtain unpackaged transputers? Yeah, I mean a silvery die like 1cm x 1cm in area ebfore they put it in those black cases with pins. I'd like to use it in a research prototype. There are times when those packages are just too big. Thanks in advance for any helpful pointers. Either post or mail is fine. If you need more than 4 links per node in your hypercube, you can use
more than a single transputer per node. E.g., two transputers connected
by one link have 6 links free, so allow for a 64 node hypercube consisting
of 128 transputers.
The 93.1 release of our PACT Parallel C compiler features virtual
channels, removing the logical restriction of 4 outgoing (and incoming)
channels per processor. With virtual channels, arbitrary logical networks
can be implemented on arbitrary hardware, with multiplexer and router
processes automatically inserted where necessary to allow any task to
connect to any other task in the entire system. The upcoming T9000
provides hardware support for this, of course.

Hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you have additional questions
or comments.
