This is probably a FAQ, but does anybody out there
know the SPECMARK figures for the Transputer
(T425, T805 and evaluations for T9000).

Thanks,

-michel

The following article was recently posted to comp.sys.sun.hardware and
gives a projected SPECMARK for the T9000 of 70:

Article: 1508 of comp.sys.sun.hardware
From: labman@ecr.mu.oz.au (Bruce Robertson)
Subject: Article on 3rd Gen RISCS.

Some have been talking about the viking chipset.

Well I just got my copy of EDN magazine.
Has some article on Riscs. The usual tripe
The following is a VERY shortened table of
 comparision.

I believe the TI chip below is the Viking
(OF COURSE I COULD BE WRONG)

 could someone confirm this.

  Device CPU speed SPECmarks
 Intel i960 16-25-32-40Mhz 30 (40Mhz)
 MIPS R4000SC 50Mhz (100Mhz*) 70
 IBM RS/6000 33Mhz 25.9
 NS 32SF641 33-40-50Mhz 100 native MIPS
 Intergraph C400 50Mhz 42
 Digital Alpha 200Mhz 100
 Motorola 88110 50Mhz 63.7
 Intel i860 25-40-50Mhz 42 (50Mhz)
 SGS Thomson T9000 (trans) 50Mhz 70
 Texas Inst. Super SPARC 50Mhz (100Mhz*) 75

 * Means some internal Frequency doubler lets the chip
run internally at 100Mhz. OR the various elements
work on opposite phases of the clock.

Would anyone from inmos care to comment on this number?
It seems rather high to me - I would be very interested
if anyone could give a breakdown of this SPECmark into
its component parts. Has inmos released any predicted
performance figures for the T9000 (no, I won't ask for
a predicted shipping date - we need more than a geometric
mean to calculate that one ;-)
