Can anyone give me any information about systems which allow occam programs to be compiled & executed, interpreted or whatever, on a Sun (i.e. without any real parallelism, or the need for transputers). I know of Inmos' occam toolset, but would like to hear of any alternatives. I want to teach occam to around 30 students in as familiar an environment as possible - i.e. Unix + your favourite editor, for these students. Murray Cole.

There is a system called ACK, the Amsterdam Compiler Kit. It is a
large toolkit for developing compilers for new languages, or porting compilers
for existing languages onto a new architecture. It has a number of different
front and backends, Occam1 being one of the former, and several flavours of
Unix for the latter. For further details, contact
