Does anyone know how to generate bogus Ack packets to reset the other
end of a link?
I have the following situation:
T805 <-----> C011
input output
If there is a disturbance while data is output (to C011) then the T805
will not see an Ack. After a timeout (software) the channel can be reset
and all is fine.
If there is a disturbance while data is input (from C011) then the
T805 will not see the data, and the C011 will not see an Ack. This
leaves the C011 in a state of limbo until hardware reset or it
recieves an Ack. I can detect this situation in software from the
T805 as additional logic on the C011 side will prevent further data
outputed to it being processed.
The problem is how do I reset this situation? Calling ChanReset
(in C) on both input and output parts of the link doesn't work. As far
as I can tell the transputer link reset instruction only generates an
Ack if the input link knows that a byte has been recieved but not
acknowledged.
If I can't generate a bogus Ack I will have to put timeout hardware on
the C011 side. This is most undesriable as the T805 knows what the
situation is an could reset the protocol from its end.
Is there a way of reseting the link protocol from one end? or does it
need both ends (even a dumb C011) to do it. Any solutions, however
lowlevel would be of great interest.
