Opening a chat from initfile

When trying to open a chatwindow to shell from my initfile (in greet)
I get File not open : #<Closed Pty-stream...>

The strange thing is that it works fine from the Execwindow:

(il:chat 'il:shell nil nil (il:createw '(10 10 550 480) "Shell") nil)

but not so from the greet. Does anybody have a clue as to what I am doing
wrong?
