     How was the DOSSHELL installed on your computer?  During the
     installation process, INSTALL.EXE selects one of several .VID, .GRB,
     and .INI files for installation to DOSSHELL.VID, DOSSHELL.GRB, and
     DOSSHELL.INI respectively.  INSTALL makes its decides which set of
     files to install based upon the video hardware currently in effect at
     the time of installation.  If you later change video hardware or copy
     the set of installed files to another computer, you can end up with a
     disfunctional configuration.  One other thing, on EGA systems, SETUP
     prepares a CONFIG.SYS file which loads the EGA.SYS device driver.
     Again, this is a required part of DOSSHELL on EGA systems only.

I recently have bought a used ZenithTurboSport 386. The machine works
fine (propgrams, games, graphics), EXCEPT dor DOSSHELL. Initiating
DOSSHELL in the various text modes results in a blank screen, whereas
in graphics mode the screen is filled with mumbo-dumbo characters.
Occasionally I have been able to get out of the SHELL by typing ALT-f4
hence I believe the invisible DOSSHELL is actually running correctly.

A TurboSport comes with a 640x400 CGA (double scan) paper white
screen. I am using DOS 5.0.

Anybody out there that knows the solution?
