In defense of lowly Z-449

I admit that Z449 maybe ain't the greatest video card in the world,
but I've been running a 1390 and Z449 combo most every day for almost
3 years now, and they both keep chuggin' along. 'Course, every now and
then when I boot up (or more likely, reboot), the thing seems to lose
or maybe gain pixels; I'll get umlat-like marks above "m"s and "r"s and
other weird things. Half-dots on top of lower-case i's. But what the
heck: variety is the spice of life, etc. As long as the system doesn't
smoke or flame, I'll keep using.

All very nice, but if you want (or have to ) run Microsoft C 6.0, the video
mode does not come up correctly some of the time when you reboot.

Also, OS/2 1.3 and 2.0 cannot deal with the 449: the screen immediately becomes
unreadable when booting.

ie: The card is so incompatible with the VGA standard, I cannot recommend that
anyone use it if they have a choice.
