Posted on behalf of: Jim Mitchell, Computing Centre, University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UKnow where We have somebody here who tried running IBM's BASICA on his MiniSport just to watch the inevitable crash - which it did, of course. After the next cntl-alt-del it wanted a password. What password? The local (not so local really, there's only one for the whole of the u.k.) zenith service depot wants some $100+ just to reset the password. Since that's about what the machine is worth he's thinking twice about it while hoping its as easy as sticking a jumper somewhere on the board like some others we've seen. A quick look inside didn't reveal any helpful "Password Reset Here" notices, naturally. While pondering the insides noticed a funny little plug-in board (32 pin connector alongside the, presumably, extra SIP holes) with 1 chip carrying a ZDS part # sticker. It looks like some kind of dongle - or is that the EEPROM containing the password?
