Most people keep telling me that OS/2 2.0 cannot run on any Zenith 386's or 386sx's. Can you tell me if this is true or not? If there is a way to do it, can someone send an explanation on it. Maybe there is a patch or something. Thanks in advance. Ravi (like ravioli without the "oli")

Its a 386sx 20 Mhz machine. I had a problem with the PS/2 style mouse not working, but a serial mouse fixed that. It ran _slow_ so I did the logical thing, upgrading to a 486DX/2. :-) I ran it that way for a few weeks and finally went back to windows for one reason or another. > Maybe there is a patch or something. Thanks in advance. There's lots of patches for OS2. None of them were required for ZDS machines that I know of. > Ravi -- ___ ___ Jeff Easton easton@zds-oem.zds.com (__ (__ Zenith Data Systems j.easton@mi04.zds.com ___) ___) Saint Joseph, Mich. easton@andrews.edu Monte Carlo Z-LS/20 - Choice of a quiet generation

OS/2 1.3 and 2.0 both run fine on my 1988 Zenith 386/16. I had to update the Bios chip to the most recent, but that was synch problems with a VGA card and not an OS/2 issue. Also, the old Z449 EGA card will not work. Again, this is because Zenith's EGA card did not actually meet the EGA standards. Go for it. Its worth it to be running a REAL (is that trademarked? :-) ) operating system. -- chad price@helios.unl.edu cprice@molecular.unmc.edu

I had to slow the computer to 'AT' mode or else I got a number of floppy drive errors. This was extremely slow, but I got OS/2 installed, set the Zenith back to 'Fast' mode, and everything has workded fine. There is probably a patch for this, but I didn't/haven't bothered to apply it. I have applied a few a of the OS/2 patches, but none of them were necessary to make OS/2 run on the Zenith. -- Joe Huber (jbhuber@iastate.edu) | Capt. James T. I seem to be running OS/2 just fine on my Z-Note (386SL) laptop. BT
