I just got my ZL-1 today... I LOVE IT. It is AWESOME. A real notebook, truly portable (about 6 pounds). It ran for over three hours of normal, intermitent use before the battery finished it's duty cycle... offered me a reasonable shut down time. The 2" floppies are slow, yes, but not unbearably so... I need to get some more though, or preferably a 3.5" (or even 5.25") external floppy drive. I'm using it as a terminal and wordprocessor. Notes: The keyboard is excellent... enough travel not to make your fingers sore, positive, sort of punchy feel. QUIET keyboard... I can actually use this in class without getting offended looks. The screen isn't great, but it's readable, reasonably fast response time... faster than the Mac Classic... I'm not using it for speed operation, but everything runs adequately... This things is perfect for my basic needs! I highly recommend it, if you need a portable terminal, wordprocessor for under $300. My first project will be to upgrade the ramdrive to 1.392 megs... and hopefully get an external floppy drive (I've been offered two 2" drive, but why would I need one of those? The floppies are $40 for 10 new... anyone wanna give me a better price?) I opened it up, and it was love at first sight... the design is beautiful. This is a NEAT looking computer... looks slim and trim not clunky at all. 1.29" high closed. And the screen can be adjusted from flat to straight up... the keyboard is a standard configuration, I didn't need to put any effort into adjusting from my old 84 key AT keyboard at all. Wow, is all I can say, I'm overjoyed! Thom
