Please forget my ignorance. I just want to know if this is
the right group to post this. I am new here. Please
reply via email.

What is the difference between tektronix 4010/4014, adm3a, and
vt240? Can I use adm3a emulation(from some communicaion software)
to view tektronix 4010 graphics? What is retro-graphics?
Is tektronix file raster or vector? Any converter exists?
I don't need to know all the definition. Just some simple discription.

Please reply to sychen@gn.ecn.purdue.edu
Thanks.

No, it is not the right group. The Bitgraph was a specific graphics
terminal that was sold perhaps 10 years ago, before the age of windowing, etc.
You could try comp.graphics.

I don't remember specifically what kind of graphics the adm3a had,
I think it was pretty simple minded pixel addressing. The Tektronix protocol
is still somewhat current and is vector-oriented. The Retrographics was a
addin board to a Vt100 that provided Tektronix graphics to the DEC VT100.
The VT240 is a VT200 with Tektronix graphics and REGIS support built in.
The tektronix format is pretty easy to decode and one can easily write a
program to translate its vectors into a raster output. There exist, for
example, Tektronix to Postscript filters.
