The updated 630_pkg is now available in the AT&T Toolchest. Below is
the upgrade description. In particular I've added 32ld and the binary
to download into 5620 1.1 ROMS to make it behave like 2.0 ROMS.
The package costs $100, and I think upgrades are free. Many of the
other programs in the package work on 5620s even though it's called
630_pkg.

The Toolchest can be called by modem at 1-908-522-6900, login "guest".

I have also submitted a '5620dev' package which includes the software
generation system but it hasn't appeared yet. This will also be $100.
This also includes 32ld and the 5620 1.1->2.0 binary download, so you
may want to wait for this instead of getting the 630_pkg.

Both of these packages are quite large so if your modem isn't 9600
baud expect to have long phone calls.

> AT&T's DMD host support (core, software development, and text+graphics)
> packages may still be available from AT&T software licensing.

They are no longer available that way. The core package binaries
(layers) are standard on AT&T's SVR3 and SVR4.1.

> BSD layers support is available from UCSD, also at one time at least from
> AT&T Teletype (NCR?).

The latest version of BSD layers is now available via anonymous ftp
at research.att.com:dist/dmd/dmdlayers.tar.Z. Both the '5620dev' and
and '630_pkg' packages will work with BSD layers at least on Suns.

             630_pkg - 5620 DMD and 630/730 MTG Package

<> The 630 MTG Toolchest package contains 18 popular application programs
for AT&T Dot-Mapped Display terminals (630/730 MTG and 5620 DMD).

<> Changes in this release (8/13/92):

Most of the programs will now also compile on Suns for use with the pseudo-tty
based version of layers for Suns.

32ld, the 5620 DMD application downloader, has been added. This package
includes 32reloc and 32version and the lsys.8;7;3 download binary
for downloading the 5620 2.0 firmware features into 1.1 firmware.

xcip, a graphics drawing program with output in pic format, has been updated
to the latest version. Source is also provided to compile
this to run under X in addition to 5620s and 630s.

xdmdld, the 630/730 MTG application downloader, has been updated to the latest
version. Works in both standalone mode and under layers,
and has improved performance when the connection to a 730 is
over a LAN connection. Also recognizes download binaries that
have been converted with mc68conv to eliminate the need to use
          xzap630.

xjx, the standard I/O interpreter for the 5620 DMD and the 630/730 MTG, has
been updated to the latest version

xproof, a troff output simulator for the 5620 DMD and the 630/730 MTG
that reads troff output from a file or pipe and displays a
simulation of the resulting images on the screen, has been
          updated to the latest version.

xzap630, a program for use with mc68conv for byte-order conversion
of terminal object modules for non-AT&T computers, has been
          rewritten for portability.
