Converting SGML DTD's to XML DTD's

SGML-based systems who wish to take advantage of new XML-aware
software and techniques, part of the challenge of adopting new
technology is leveraging their existing SGML Document Type
	Definitions (DTDs).

This session examines the most common problems in converting
legacy SGML DTDs to XML DTDs, and offers practical advice in
	dealing with issues like:

     		- Fewer available keywords and connectors
     		- No inclusions or exclusions
     		- Parameter entity usage restrictions
     		- PUBLIC and SYSTEM identifiers
     		- Case-sensitivity in names and keywords
     		- #PCDATA usage restrictions

The instructor will conclude by briefly reviewing an
 	SGML-to-XML DTD conversion.

        XML Network Services: Architectural Considerations

XML is quickly becoming the "lingua franca" for electronic
communications. Unfortunately, network infrastructure is blind
to XML traffic, leading to performance bottlenecks and security holes.

Organizations need to address the XML performance problem directly
at the network level, with technologies designed from the ground up
to deal with XML traffic. A new generation of XML-aware network
equipment is emerging. These solutions make it possible to manage,
process, secure and accelerate XML data streams.
