Dear SGML Users Group:

The next meeting of the Washington Area SGML Users Group
will be held on Wednesday, November 19, at 7:00 p.m. Meetings
usually last approximately 2 hours.

The meeting will be held at the American Geophysical Union,
2000 Florida Avenue, Washington, D.C. Public parking is available
across the street or you can take the Metro and get off at the Dupont
Circle Metro stop. Our host is Jon Sears from the AGU. For directions
to AGU, point your Web browser to: http://www.agu.org/directns.html.

For those interested, Corel has sent 50 90 day free trials
of Word Perfect 8 with SGML. Also, the latest International
SGML Users Group Newsletters will also be available.

IMPORTANT: The doors at AGU are locked afterhours. Someone is
at the door until 7:30 to let people in. If you arrive
after 7:30, please wait a few minutes and someone will
            check the doors periodically.

Attached is the agenda for the meeting.

is a non-profit charitable organization. If anyone
would like to help donate to cover the cost of
Harvey's travel from New England, please let me
		know.
TBD - Crystal Software - Astoria Component Management System

In June of this year, Chrystal Software was invited to
participate in an event sponsored by the NY SGML Forum. The
event was intended to provide the attendees with insight into
the capabilities of 3 popular document management systems.
Copyrighted scenarios were provided to each vendor, along with
a data set and each vendor was asked to demonstrate his/her
document management system as it applied to the scenarios.
The scenarios, of course, were designed to exercise the
repositories in areas that the event's sponsors believed to be
critical to successful document management implementations.

Chrystal has obtained permission from the NY SGML Forum to
reuse the scenarios and data set at the November 19, 1997
meeting of the Washington SGML Users' Group. Representatives
from Chrystal Software will use this context to demonstrate
Astoria 2.0. We invite you all to attend this information
filled event and to evaluate the Astoria Document Management
System's ability to satisfy these exacting requirements.

There will not be a meeting of the Users Group in December due to SGML 97.

Below is the tentative agenda for the January 1998 meeting. Several
People have been discussing the possibility of having more user oriented
tutorials next year. Your feedback and comments about what kind of things you
would like to see would be appreciated. We will try to get volunteers to to
give these mini-tutorials.
