I am using the following old version of TeX/LaTeX:

This is TeX, Version 2.0 for Berkeley UNIX (preloaded format=lplain 87.12.4)

A few questions:
- with this version of TeX, can I tell TeX to place the DVI file in
the same directory as the TEX file?
- with more recent versions?
- is there something like a "man page" for this version of the system?
- what is the most recent version of TeX?
- how does one go about getting it?

Please reply directly to me (greene@mcc.com) as I don't read this newsgroup.
Thanks.
