What I usually do is to edit the PostScript file and add the following line
somehere at the begining of the file, after a bunch of %%
%!
%%BoundingBox: a b c d
%% lots of lines started with %%
...
%%
0.5 0.5 scale
That will scale it 50 %. The only problem now, the "BoundingBox" number
is not right.
Use a program called "bbfig" to find the correct "BoundingBox" numbers
and replace "a", "b", "c", "d" with the numbers from the output of
bbfig.
Now inside the text, this is what I usually do :
\begin{figure}[htb]
\centerline{\psfig{figure=filename.ps}}
\caption{Nice figure}
\end{figure}
Hope this could help.
