Funny you should mention it, but ...

We're the publishers of Textures, a TeX-based system for the Macintosh
(TeX is Knuth's mathematics typesetting system, the international standard
for academic and scientific mathematical publishing.) Textures has been
on the market for seven years, is very robust, and is widely used.

Textures itself could probably fill all of your needs as a separate
application; it can easily produce EPS (and other) formats that can
be imported or placed in Quark documents.

However, we're just now releasing, to our first few test sites, a
Quark XTension that works with Textures in a client/server fashion.
Clients running Quark communicate (automatically) to the Textures
server, passing mathematical expressions and receiving in return
typeset equations (or any other TeX-set material).

I would guess this new product, currently code-named 'MathX', just
might be perfectly appropriate for your needs.

If you're interested in applying to be a test site for early releases
of this new XTension, write to David Heinen, President, Blue Sky Research
at 'daveh@bluesky.com' for more information.

This is NOT a product for the unsophisticated user. MathX test users
should be experienced Quark users, preferably already familiar with the
TeX mathematical language, and highly willing to provide prompt, detailed
information on your test experiences.

(Blue Sky Research is a commercial organization, despite the educational
organization shown in the header of this article.)
