Hi I would appreciate any help at all on these two issues. Our sysadmin recently upgraded TeX to the most recent distribution, unfortunately coinciding with the time I am trying to produce the final drafts of my thesis. 1. The new xdvi produces very grainy fonts on screen with bits of several letters missing as though the page had been dusted with talcum powder! This was never a problem with the old xdvi. I wonder what is different. 2. The new dvips file doesn't seem to generate the table of contents for the ghostview previewer which the old version did without any problems. Even worse, when I laboriously select "Next Page" from the "Page menu" some 40 times, and then try to magnify a portion of the page in ghostview, it shows me a magnification of that portion on the first page. It doesn't seem to realise I am on page 40! Many many thanks in advance for help in solving these problems. Email replies please. - &
