     Can anyone tell me why this

   \section*{Introduction}

    This report is about the blah blah blah blah //

    The values found for blah blah blah //

     puts the line beginning with "This" closer to the left margin than
   the line beginning "The". On my DVI Previewer, it comes out as

   INTRODUCTION

    This report is about the blah blah blah

	 The values found for blah blah blah

In general, LaTeX styles do NOT indent the first paragraph of a new
section, but DO indent subsequent paragraphs. This convention is
supported by the AGPS Style Manual and the Chicago Style Manual.

You could use \indent and \noindent to alter this behaviour if you
desire.
