Exactly. I vigorously second Dr Sch\"{o}pf's recommendation.
I've used SliTeX for an OHP talk. (I didn't use maths, though.)

Just one comment. When I read Lamport's LaTeX User's Guide,
Appendix A, on SliTeX, A.2 "The Root File", second par, I read this:

    Any text that comes after the \begin{document} is treated as "front
    matter" and not as slide material.

An example is given there that stresses this.
But I could never get SliTeX to accept anything useful BEFORE
the \begin{document}. Indeed, as the first par of A.2 says:

    The \documentstyle command is followed by the preamble, which may
    only contain declarations, followed inturn by the \begin{document}
    command.

This is as usual in LaTeX. So, when I tried the weird-sounding idea
of putting

    \colors{red, green, blue}
    \colorslides{myslide}

before the \begin{document}, as par 2 of A.2 seemed to be demanding,
SliTeX whinged continually, and prompted me all the time.

So I did what made sense to me, and put these lines AFTER the
\begin{document}. Then I had no trouble.

Can someone please explain to me why "front matter" isn't "slide
material". Since it worked fine as slide material for my seminar,
and as the "A.2, par 2" method fails, what on earth does Leslie
Lamport expect me to understand by that "par 2"?

Weird, just weird!
