I spent couple of days to make TeX (LaTeX2e with all extras) run on my
NT4 using Textelmextel and dviwin32. I had to do a few changes and write
a few new batches to configure textelmextel and dviwin.
All these things are attached to this posting (german and ...2 = english)
But there are still two things I cant manage :
I) including graphicfiles in my work. I tried out to use bm2fonts.exe but
this is only for files with width<300pixels and you have to use bm2fonts
for all files again if you change the dpis (if you change the printer or
the screen or so).
I also tried out to use the \special-command (example : \special{isoscale
filename,5in 5in}) but the only format that is really displayed at the
end is the WMF-format and this is shown in a extremely bad quality. When
I try to use any other format (ps,eps, tiff, jpeg, gif, bmp etc.) there is
only a white box :-( WHY ?
My viewer is dviwin32 and I put all graphicfilters in the win.ini and I
also tried to use the xxx.flt instead of the xxx2.flt that comes with
dviwin32. but nothing helps. And I hate to have a lot of black frames in
my outprint, where I have to glue the outprints of my graphicfiles.
II) how the hell can I choose a printer ? is there a variable in the TeX-
environment or how ? of course I can choose my deskjet, when printing
from dviwin32 but when dviwin calls MakeFont, makefont creates fonts for
the laserjet and does not store them. I dont understand this printer-
font-thing ! Ive a lot of *.fli in my TexFont-directory that seems to be
for different printers and Ive a pixel.lj-directory, where all the pk-
dirs for different resolutions are stored !! pixel.lj sounds like
laserjet !?
So, anybody knows help ?
:-) thanks, peter
