I've just changed machines, running OS/2 Warp 4, from a VESA PC with a Cirrus display card, to a PCI PC with an S3 display card. Since changing machines (same OS though), "dvipm7" has stopped working. It gives a SYS3175 error, due to an error raised in IBMS332.DLL. I tried downloading the latest display drivers from S3, and updating my EMX runtime to emx09c. I also downloaded the latest "dvidrv" software, but the "dvipm16" and "dvipm167" programs give a different error (SYS2070) about not being able to demand-load a segment, saying "DVIPM->EMDLL1X.21 is in error". I've had to temporarily convert all my DVI files to Postscript and use Ghostscript, but "dvipm" is nicer usually. If anyone could give me any advice or ideas on what might be the problem, or even better, how to fix it, I would be terribly grateful. Please mail any replies to "tony@ems.uq.edu.au", and not to whatever your newsreader may give as my email address. Thanks very much in advance. Cheers, Tony.

At a guess, I'd say emdll1x.dll on the new machine doesn't correspond to dvipm167.exe. Perhaps it wasn't properly replaced when you installed the new dvidrv. In any case, dvipm167 is the 16-bit version of dvipm, and should only be used on 16 bit machines running OS/2 1.3, since it is approximately 1,637 times slower than dvipm, the 32 bit version of the program. Try installing dvipm and emdll2x.dll, and see if that works. -- Patrick TJ McPhee East York Canada ptjm@ican.net
