Hi, I have a problem with converting .dvi file to .ps file using dvips I am using version "dvipsk 5.58f". It convert my .dvi file to .ps file ok, I can view it using ghostview and other software to view the ps format, but it seems that it only have one page, no matter how many page is in the actual document, ghostview would not have page numbers displayed at the column on the left. And if I use program like psnup, to say change it to double page per A4 page or something like that, it says, psnup -2 mine.ps > ! temp.ps Wrote 0 pages, 80458 bytes seems like it sees only one page and did not put two pages into one, so the .ps file is basically unchanged. I have been trying to solve this problem for a while, you see, sometimes I would like to print one page at the time not one whole document.....8-( I am not sure where the problem(s) is, and would really like to find out. Thank You Regards Geoff Lin ps this is the output when I do dvips.... dvips -r0 -o mine.ps mine.dvi This is dvipsk 5.58f Copyright 1986, 1994 Radical Eye Software ' TeX output 1996.12.08:1137' -> mine.ps kpathsea: Running MakeTeXPK cmbx10 746 300 magstep\(5.0\) cx /usr/local/tex/bin/MakeTeXPK: /usr/local/tex/lib/fonts/tmp/pk/cx/cmbx10.746pk already exists. kpathsea: Running MakeTeXPK cmbx12 300 300 1+0/300 cx /usr/local/tex/bin/MakeTeXPK: /usr/local/tex/lib/fonts/tmp/pk/cx/cmbx12.300pk already exists. kpathsea: Running MakeTeXPK cmr12 300 300 1+0/300 cx /usr/local/tex/bin/MakeTeXPK: /usr/local/tex/lib/fonts/tmp/pk/cx/cmr12.300pk already exists. kpathsea: Running MakeTeXPK cmmi12 300 300 1+0/300 cx /usr/local/tex/bin/MakeTeXPK: /usr/local/tex/lib/fonts/tmp/pk/cx/cmmi12.300pk already exists. kpathsea: Running MakeTeXPK cmbx10 518 300 magstep\(3.0\) cx /usr/local/tex/bin/MakeTeXPK: /usr/local/tex/lib/fonts/tmp/pk/cx/cmbx10.518pk already exists. kpathsea: Running MakeTeXPK cmbx10 432 300 magstep\(2.0\) cx /usr/local/tex/bin/MakeTeXPK: /usr/local/tex/lib/fonts/tmp/pk/cx/cmbx10.432pk already exists. kpathsea: Running MakeTeXPK cmr8 300 300 1+0/300 cx /usr/local/tex/bin/MakeTeXPK: /usr/local/tex/lib/fonts/tmp/pk/cx/cmr8.300pk already exists. kpathsea: Running MakeTeXPK cmsy10 360 300 magstep\(1.0\) cx /usr/local/tex/bin/MakeTeXPK: /usr/local/tex/lib/fonts/tmp/pk/cx/cmsy10.360pk already exists. kpathsea: Running MakeTeXPK cmti12 300 300 1+0/300 cx /usr/local/tex/bin/MakeTeXPK: /usr/local/tex/lib/fonts/tmp/pk/cx/cmti12.300pk already exists. <texc.pro><special.pro>. This can be necessary for some printers or PostScript interpreters, mainly very old ones. To fix it you should find and edit the file config.ps: there will be a line starting with `N' that should be deleted or commented out. If you don't have the rights to do this you can copy the system config.ps file to a file called .dvipsrc in your home directory and edit it there. -- Stephen Harker s-harker@adfa.oz.au School of Physics Baloney Baffles brains: Eric Frank Russell University College UNSW, ADFA
