Help - References titled twice in bibliography

I'm trying to get my Bibliography listed in my Table
of Contents, so I do this at the end of my article:

\newpage
\begin{center}
\section{References}
\end{center}
\label{sect:references}

\begin{thebibliography}{88}

\bibitem{ ....

This works out great for my Table of Contents, but now on the
first page of my Bibliography at the top I have a big References
title and then just below it left-centered I have another References
title.

Is there any way to get rid of the second References title?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Mark

You can try this:

\newpage
\addcontentsline{toc}{chapter}{\numberline{}References}
\label{sect:references}

\begin{thebibliography}{88}

\bibitem{ ....

Now the header will not be centered, but the header will be the same as
the other headings, and that's what it should be.
