Mac pictures & psfig

I've been using Macintosh pictures in LaTeX documents for years
without any problems. Because I now have to prepare a large document
with a very large number of (mac) figures and we coincidently
installed a newer version of dvi2ps at the same time, I decided to
incorporate the psfig package. Installation was easy and
straightforward, everything just works fine, i.e. the doc was
processed and printed without problems. When I now wanted to start to
change my tex-files from the old to the new mimic, i.e.
special{psfile... to psfig{... I noticed, that all of my Postscript
files (generated with MacDraw 1.9.5, MacDraw II and MetaDesign 2.0)
had the headerline
%%BoundingBox: ? ? ? ?
which of course prevents psfig from functioning. What am I doing
wrong?

Thanks in advance --- Yvo

BTW. the figures were generated on a Mac IIcx, System 6.03,
LaserWriter 5.2.
