I write and develop online help systems (a.k.a. hypertext documentation). What platform are you working on? That's the first criteria for selecting a authoring tool. Are these new users or existing users? Is there a printed manual with the software or is everything to be online? I've worked on both the Mac and the PC under Windows. The WinHelp facility is pretty hip. Uses WinWord as an authoring tool. Jumps, popups, graphics, graphics can launch jumps, sound, animation, etc. There's also a tool from ?Bristol Technologies in CT that lets you migrate WinHelp projects to UNIX. And of course you can move WinHelp files to OS/2 (for those of you so inclined). If you'd like to continue this conversation via email, feel free. Jerry Whiting jwhiting@igc.org
