There was an implementation by UNIX Pacific, but
just for one of the Japanese character sets.
It's based on our DWB, but uses as special variable-
byte encoding. It can be purchased from UNIX Pacific,
I believe:
USL Pacific - tel: 81-2-5484-8605

Recent Research efforts in Bell Labs are based on UNICODE,
and we are currently considering whether to offer a
UNICODE version on DWB. This would cover Chinese, Korean,
and several hundred other languages, including many
Indian dialects.
The current DWB available from USL and NCR (3.2)
supports only Western European languages, as per
ISO 8859-1.
