Hi around,

(hope this doesn't come twice, network is messing around...)

I have been working quite some time about the binary formats of word
processor documents. While that, I really felt bad about, that description
for the newer generation programs nearly is not available. If you felt
so, either, a visit to:

http://wwwwbs.cs.tu-berlin.de/~schwartz/pmh/

might be interesting to you. Currently these pages are just about the
binary level structure of Ole/COM documents, but other topics will follow.

Currently there is offered:

   - A binary level description of Ole/Com documents
(that are documents like from the Microsoft Office family, Star
      Writer 3.1 and more)

   - A perl 4 package (library), that makes these documents accessible
(the restriction to level 4 was to allow running even under dos perl)
      with some demonstration utilities:

. Demo 1: lists the structure of ole/com documents
. Demo 2: shows author, title... of all objects of an document
. Demo 3: gets the ascii part out of a Word 6 document
(I do avoid calling this level converting ;-)

If you know good information sources, I'm always glad to hear. Anyway,
reactions are welcome.

Yours,

Martin
