List members,
We are looking at providing a campus wide calendar service which could be
supported between multiple machines and operating systems (almost all of our
systems have TCP/IP access). It would be nice if such software could be able
to
A. Provide user access to public portions of a user's calendar on the current
or another machine.
B. Provide the ability of scheduling a meeting based on one or more users
calendars on one or more machines.
C. Be able to format a mail message consisting of the meeting notice in a
form that the recipient's machine could read and be used as input to
software for adding entries into their personal calendar.
D. Be queried by "finger" and / or "gopher" from any machine and provide the
public calendar information (as opposed to confidential information).
The machines that we currently have on site and would like to be able to share
information between are:
o AIX 3.x on several IBM RISC/6000 Systems
o AIX/ESA on an IBM 370 family System
o VM/ESA on an IBM 370 family System (currently supports Office Vision)
o MVS/ESA on an IBM 370 family System
o Sun SPARC UNIX Systems
o HP/9000 UNIX Systems
o DEC/Station UNIX Systems
o Other BSD, AT&T, or POSIX UNIX Systems
o LAN based systems including Macintosh and DOS
I realize that this is a tall order and not everything may be able to be
handled, but it sure would be nice to have a truly integrated calendar system
on hetrogenious platforms.
