Can't find CD-ROM device

Hi! My laptop Toshiba 3110CT crashed the other day and now I'm about to
install win2000. After
I made a format c: I can't access the CD-ROM. I've tried with the
bootdisk but I get MSCD001 device not
found. Anyone know how I can fix this to continue installing win2000?
