Using markers in GDI

In the windows.h file there are several defines for MARKERS.
One is for the GetDeviceCaps () function and the others are
masks. Does any one know how to use this? I am working on a
port of a OS/2 PM program to Windows 3.0 and the PM program
supports the use of Markers for 2D graphs. I have already
come up with a way to support markers but it is rather limited.
I have spoken to Microsoft about this but they did not even
mention the NUMMARKERS index for GetDeviceCaps.

Thanks in advance,
Mike Markley
