Port I/O under Windows 3 in Prot mode

	Hi Netlanders,

I want to write an application in enhanced mode using USE32 data
segments to get a fast access to the 24 Mb RAM I got installed with my
386.

  i) What software do I need? I have MSC 5.0 and MASM 5.0. Are these
versions recent enough? I am aware, that I also need the SDK for
Windows. I don't have it yet and I only want to buy it if the answer
to question ii) is yes.

ii) In the planned application I want to do Port I/O (megabytes) in an
assembly routine. Is it possible to set the I/O privileges high enough in the
application or before starting it? I/O via calls to the SDK library
(if they exist) will probably not be fast enough.

Any help or references are very much appreciated.
