I have a parent window, which allows me to use the SetItemData and
GetItemData very nicely. If the item matches certain criteria, I
create a child window. I would like focus to be changed to the
child window as soon as it is created. I have tried many methods,
but to no avail. The child is a listbox style, with LBS_Notify and
a bunch of other flags.
The only way (discovered by playing) to set focus to the child seems
to be grabbing it by a corner which does *not* overlap the parent,
on the title bar, moving it across the screen. *Then* and only then
has focus changed.
One other problem I am having is that sometimes when I move a window,
a 'ghost' of it is left behind on its parent (just like a child to
barf on his parent, I know this), which doesn't go away.
None of the child/parent 'examples' in either Petzold or Norton are
industrial strength enough for this. Any help out there, or other
suggested readings?
