I'm responsible for product portability of an application which must run on, among other systems, Unix, AIX, VAX/VMS, and MS-DOS. Currently the application has a low-tech character-based user interface (somewhat like the pull-down menus associated with a lot of DOS applications). We're starting the process of looking at adding on an enhanced GUI for these systems (primarily Motif/X and MS-Windows). The application/program interface offered by XVT Software (Boulder, CO) is one possible route we may take. If you have experience with XVT or any other platform-independent approach to building GUI-based programs, I'm interested in getting comments or recommendations. Please post or email. I will keep emailed comments confidential. Thanks, -rich
