Is there a program or sequence of functions to retrieve the amount
of free resources ? I want to make sure my program is releasing
resources correctly.

The Windows 3.1 Resource Kit includes some useful programs, including the
one you want:
1. prog. that displays amount of free resources, memory, & disk.
2. prog. that displays bitmaps.
3. prog. that monitors SmartDrive performance (very good).
4. prog. that monitors networks
The Windows 3.1 Resource Kit is available directly from Microsoft. I don't
have the number handy.
