Please excuse me if this is a common problem, and I'm sure it must be, but how does one get 256 colours out of Visual Basic? I have been told that PCX Toolkit for Windows and QuickPak Pro for Windows can produce 256 colours. Is this the only way to go? How about directly accessing the Windows API? Another question, which may be related to the above, does anyone have any information about Microsoft's Professional Toolkit for Visual Basic 1.0? Is the toolkit worth the price? Many thanks for any help you can give me.

It seems one could do it via the API but I've not had the time to try, if you get any sample code would you send it to me also?? I have the prototype declarations (from WINAPI.TXT & W31API.TXT) but not a clue as to how to set up the palettes etc... No it's not in the MS Pro Toolkit... They have 3d controls, charting controls, animated buttons, MCI and OLE as well as info on WinHelp but no 256 color stuff :-( Is it worth it? Depends on your needs... I got mine at the $99 upgrade price, for the number of controls you get, it's worth it. However many of the controls can also be done via API calls... The 3d controls & charting stuff is neat though... - Galen -
