|I bet that MS will honor the upgrade. I have gotten upgrades in the 
|past for products that were not properly registered.  In every
|case MS required the first page of the manual be sent to them as
|proof that I owned the product.

This much is true. I called the Win 3.1 upgrade number and the nice 
lady at the other end confirmed that they would upgrade an OEM copy 
of Windows using the first page/first disk method.
