We are in need of finding a Project management software package.
I would certianly prefer that it would run in windows but the primary
requirement is that it functions well, not that is is windows based.

I have experience with MS Project. It seems to do somethings ok but has
many quirks that I hate. It is also lacking quite a few capabilities that
I would certainly like to see in a product. Those I can think of I will
list below to see if anyone knows if their package will do them.

Assign resources to a Pool as well as Individually. Meaning I can request
a person by name on one task. And also select "HW Engineer" for some other
task. And that same person may do both task but in the second case ANYONE
assigned to that pool could. I realize this might get complex but it
certainly seems like a nice feature.

The ability to fractionally assign resources. MS Project allows me to
assign things on a fractional basis but that is FIXED. If I want someone
to do .3 of their time on a task, no problem. But if I have that person
assigned to a number of tasks. One being a long one with low priority and
another being a short one that will happen in the middle I don't belive it
will interrupt the long even, much less assign .6 time to it. Or allow the
long task to procede at full load until this .6 takes some away from it.

I guess those are the main things I can think of right now. Does anyone
know of a Project management program to perform these tasks?
