RW>I have a friend, who has a ps/2 model 95, and he has just bought an 8214 xga
RW>monitor. OK, so this works for everything except win 3.1, he installed the
RW>relavent win 3.1 driver (8214/a as far as I can remember), but when he goes to
RW>start up win 3.1 he just gets the windows title screen. Then it hangs. But
RW>everything works ok for win 3.0. Anyone a have any idea what's up?
Neither Windows 3.0 nor Windows 3.1 has an '8214/a' video driver. They
*do* have '8514/a' video drivers - for IBM's 8514/A video adapter.
That's *not* an XGA-compatible video adapter. Your friend is mistaken
if he thinks he was using an 8514/A video driver with an XGA adapter
under Windows 3.0.
Windows 3.1 comes standard with several XGA drivers. Just CD over
to your WINDOWS directory type "SETUP", move the cursor over to the
"Display" entry, and press ENTER. Then press the down-arrow key
(a lot) until the XGA entries appear.
