Yes, this is what my family has been doing with French and it works well.  My
kids can (and I guess, so can I) type almost as fast in French as in English -
if you touch type then you don't look at the keys anyway.  We just got the
French dictionary and I discovered that if you type in English and mark the
paragraphs as French (Spanish in your case) then the speller will find all the
letters requiring accents and change them for you.  Since we haven't worked 
with this in a productive setting yet (school's not in) I don't know which is
better - changing the keyboard through control panel or putting in the accents
with the speller.

If you want to set a macro within W4W to get to control panel try the 
following:
