My apologies if this has been pointed out before, but apparently Windows 3.1 requires v2.0 of SoundBlaster's DSP chip. You can find out what version you have by running the program TEST-SBC included on your SoundBlaster disks. If you want a upgrade, you can call Creative Labs Sales at 1-408-428-6600. It costs $30 (plus $5 shipping). Apparently the old chip waited for the buffer to fill before sending output whereas the new chip sends data as it gets it. The result is that older chips produce delays when you implement the .WAV sounds for system events in Win 3.1. Hope this helps. -- Rob
