Simple App. to display text?

I'm looking for a simple application that can sit at the end of a
pipeline, collect the output and then popup a window showing the text.
I heard someone mention such a beast once.  Of course, now that I have
a reason to want it, I can't remember or find the reference...  I
looked through the contrib index on Export, but nothing looked
promising.  Anyone know of such a thing?

P.S.  This is for use in some scripts that get triggered off things on
my display.  When I was at MIT, I hacked this by using Zephyr to send
the results to me, but now that I've moved to a new job, I should get
the "right" tool for the job.
