Hello,
Is there any command in Linux similar to "dir/s" option in DOS?
Suppose we want to list all files with extension .EXE we could give "dir
*.exe/s" in DOS, what is the substitute command for Linux?
Thanx,
From Alok.

I don't think anyone on comp.windows.x.kde will sit down to write you the
whole answer as it is long (if made "as it should") and also, yep,
OFF-TOPIC.
But, I hate rude people who just wait for Q's like your's to flame others,
so here is the short reply with references to some more info. DO check also
some tutorials for Linux as some must have this.
Basically what you're looking for is: dir/p = ls | more (that's a "pipe"
there to "redirection" of the output of ls to the input of more. check 'man
more').
Wanna ask me for the best "dir" operation on Linux? I do it like that:
in /etc/bashrc:
alias l='ls -laF --color | more'
when I type 'l' on the prompt of my shell, I get the whole 'ls -laF --color
| more' sequence automatically.
For dir *.exe, do "ls | grep .exe" (man grep. BTW, grep is a powerful and
commonly used command)
Hope it helps,
Boaz.

P.S. ... Just remembered that dir/s is like ls -R on Linux !... (verify at the man page) Boaz. No, that doesn't do what you think it does. Remember that the shell
expands wildcards.
What you are thinking of is:
find . -name '*.exe' -ls
