SunPhigs and Clipping

I create a ptri_strip3_data structure of a rounded
surface. I supply vertex colors (strip.colr.direct.rgb.red/green/blue)
and am using lighting (ambient, diffuse, directional and specular).
All vertices are specified with the same rgb color and are shaded
appropriately, except when I model clip. When I clip
using pset_model_clip_vol3, the surface at the
clipped plane is displayed with random colors.

How do I get rid of the random colors (i.e. at best an
interpolated color based on the adjacent vertices)??

Is SunPhigs incorrectly clipping? What is Phigs
supposed to do at clipped boundaries for
shading?

BTW, I am using SunPhigs 2.0, Sunos 4.1.2 on a SS2
with a GX.
