Hello,

I need to be able to run an X server on a unix box. This box should not
need to have a monitor or a keyboard attached to it. We have a lot of
user workstation which occasionally get rebooted on the weekend, which we
are using as our display machine for creating graphics via Pixmaps which get
converted to a GIF for delivery over the web. We are using a commercial
graphics package called Ag/X Toolmaster distributed by AVS. Because
of the down time of user workstations, it has not been possible to
keep some of our services (in alpha) up 100% of the time. Hence the
direction to use a production server to run an X server.

Sun's NEWS server has a -nodev option which allows NEWS clients to connect
and provide NEWS services. I have not found such an option for the X11R5
or X11R6 servers. Please e-mail me (praveen@ciesin.org) if you know of any
way around this problem I am facing.

Thanks.

PS: I could hang a keyboard off one of our production servers if the X
server needs a keyboard to obtain X events.
