Help? We use corel Draw but increasingly we are ending up having to email
for Mac users that work in Quark, Photoshop,Pagemaker . Any ideas on
outputting files or is there a conversion tool out there. Do we have to
save on a formatted Mac disk from our Pc for them to read eps files?

EPS format from Draw generally travels pretty well cross-platform and
cross-program. Make sure you use TIF previw headers, not WMF.

Linda, you can also save your file in Illustrator format if you want them to
edit your file. However, be sure to send a proof of something (a PDF for
example, or a Hotsend file) to make sure your AI file is complete (sometimes,
the conversion gives weird restuls). Of course, if it is just for opening in
Quark or PageMaker, make a note not to open the EPS file into Photoshop. Mac
people tend to make no distinction about Illustrator EPS and Photoshop EPS. I
had many phone calls of Mac people stating that my EPS was only 72dpi! The
opened it in Photoshop and read only the header...

Be sure to convert your text into curves while exporting.
You can also buy an inexpensive utility from Aladdyn Software called
Dropsutff. It will compress your file in Stuffit format.

... and be sure to output text as curves if you want to be sure you won't
have font problems. It makes the files large, and makes them take MUCH time
to rip on pages full of text, but it's the most bulletproof. Oh that Draw8
for the mac would be reliable enough to inspire confidence in the service
bureau community! Corel should fix it and give it away to bona fide service
bureaus.
